Ok. Enough whining for tonight.
Let's get on with the summer "catch up".
LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL!
Nicholas had his first "big" project the last week of school. They were studying dinosaurs, but he decided to do his report on trilobites. If you have any questions, he is the man to talk to. We went online and found a pattern for a paper trilobite. Greg was out of town while we were working on it, but grandpa saved the day by making bigger copies so he had an entire family of trilobites to show the class. He did a great job and got an A.
I decided to have Noah go and play at a neighbors house while I went to the Nicholas's class dinosaur museum. He packed his own lunch.
Milk box, beef jerky, granola bar, fruit snacks, and caramel corn. Mmm mm good.
It was a busy week - Nicholas also had his 2nd grade talent show and played the piano. He is really getting good.
Noah also had his first big report due. His class did a "zoo" and Noah picked an Arctic Snow Owl. They had to memorize some information and then dress up as their animal.
Finally, after all their hard work.....school was over! YEAH!!
So on the last day of school we decided to celebrate with a back yard camp out!
Just the way I like it! Close to home, but still fun. We roasted hot dogs and made s'mores and sat around the "campfire". I was even able to sneak into my own bed around 2 am and get a little sleep.
The next two weeks were filled with scout camps and a birthday party for Nicholas. He went to a friends house for a water party and took off his swim shirt for the afternoon......needless to say, the little white boy turned a very bright shade of red!
This picture doesn't do it justice. He was so burned it actually turned purple before it peeled. This year was Nicholas's first time at cub scout day camp. He was so excited to go. He left us a note on the wall for when the rest of us woke up.
What a great guy I have!
The last week of their 3 week summer vacation, we finally finished the rooms in the basement and got all the boys moved into their own rooms and the basement cleaned up. So with all that room to play the boys decided to make a "fort". This fort covered the entire basement. They were even duct taping blankets to the walls. They worked really hard and we had it up most of the week.
I give you "Fort Sill"
It was all fun and games until it was time to clean up and fold the blankets and sheets. But they did a good job of cleaning up too.
It was a great if not short summer vacation.
